Italian Renaissance

In 2000, I defended my PhD thesis at the University of Cologne, comparing real and depicted interiors of the Early Italian Renaissance.

I presented my research on several conferences, including

  • A Casa: People, Spaces and Objects in the Renaissance Interior, Harvard Center for Italian Renaissance Studies at Villa I Tatti, Florenz, 2004
  • 10. Symposium des Mediävistenverbandes: Virtuelle Räume. Raumwahrnehmung und Raumvorstellung im Mittelalter, Donau-Universität Krems, 2003
  • XXVII. Deutscher Kunsthistorikertag, Universität Leipzig, 2003

My PHD thesis is published in German:

  • Camera. Gemalter und realer Raum der italienischen Frührenaissance, Weimar: VDG 2001.

and was the basis for the paper:

  • Raum im Bild - Traum im Raum. Gemalte Räume und gemalte Träume in der italienischen Malerei des Tre- und Quattrocento, in: Elisabeth Vavra (Hg.): Virtuelle Räume. Raumwahrnehmung und Raumvorstellung im Mittelalter, Berlin 2005, S. 149-172.

also the following review deals with the topic:

  • Rezension von Jeremy Aynsley und Charlotte Grant (Hg.): Imagined Interiors. Representing the Domestic Interior since the Renaissance, London: Victoria & Albert publications 2006; Marta Ajmar-Wollheim und Flora Dennis (Hg.): At Home in Renaissance Italy, London 2006, in: sehepunkte 7 (2007), Nr. 9, 15.09.2007, http:/www.sehepunkte.de/2007/09/11946.html
