Modern & Contemporary Art and Media

While I devoted much of my research of the past years to new media art, theory, and aesthetics, this is part of a broad interest and teaching activity in modern and contemporary art and media in general. I have been teaching classes on architectural history, the notion of the work, the iconic turn, public art, and general media theory. I realized workshops with contemporary artist and just recently, together with students, produced a catalogue of the contemporary art collection of the Allianz insurance company in Munich, which has been curated by late Harald Szeemann.

Currently, I do follow two special fields of interest related to modern and contemporary art in general. One is public art, the other is broadening my research of interaction aesthetics into general questions of process and reception aesthetics, starting from Minimal and Post-Minimal Art up to recent artistic projects in the Live Arts. Just recently, I am preparing an MA-Course on Robert Morris.
